Hi, my name is Marc Pickering and I am an award winning landscape photographer based on the West Coast of Scotland. I am half Scottish, half Norwegian and have been brought up to have a passion for the outdoors. My full time job is working in the forests of Argyll as a works supervisor for Forestry and Land Scotland, an ideal career for me when I love the great outdoors so much. As you may tell from my photography, capturing the elements and stunning views found around Scotland is something I love to do in my spare time. Dramatic light and bold, vibrant colours produced by nature are what I endeavour to seek out!
My images have been featured in many publications including the Telegraph, Daily Record and Scotsman newspapers, and also on the National Geographic website.
Shortlisted for the overall title of Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year 2020, and winning the Summer category in the same competition 2019, it was a huge honour to win the landscape category in this years SLPOTY 2021.
My aim is to capture the ever changing weather and light found in the Scottish landscapes, as well as the mystery of the many places I visit, to create dramatic pieces that capture what I feel is the spirit and essence of Scotland.
The images, which I predominantly share on my social media pages, have led me to work on Commissions for Maserati, AmazonVideo UK, and the BBC, as well as being commissioned to take many trips to promote various locations around the UK, from Ireland (StenaLineUK partnership) to Orkney (VisitOrkney partnership).
Whilst I am most comfortable wild camping in some remote parts of the Highlands for days on end, waiting for the right light and moment to capture my landscape images, I am also adept at commercial photography with a proven track record of meeting briefs set to me by a variety of clients.
I also can conduct talks with your camera club so drop me a message if you would like me to attend
